Dear Sketch (2022)
This piece was written for my fellow performers in UQ Sketch Ensemble. The original piece, Dear Contemporary Ensemble (2021) was rescored as Dear Sketch in 2022. It is a love letter of sorts to the people who made up this ensemble, who performed, rehearsed and workshopped a large chunk of my music. Being apart of this group of composers and performers, led by the mighty Rob Davidson, was a highlight of my undergraduate degree!!
The Whipbird (2021)
A piece about my friend, The Whipbird, who lives outside my bedroom window, in Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane. A girl surrounded by bush and trees, music, and magic.
This piece was written for Oboe, Piano and String Quintet as apart of my honours folio, which explored how we can best create music using environmental sounds. It uses a combination of techniques including translation of recordings.
Five - Celestial Flame (2020)
This piece was commissioned by the UQ School of Music’s Director of Performance in 2020 and was a collaboration between myself, Alexandra Mison, Jane Lau, Alexander Voltz and Prathana Thevar-Brink. Each movement of the piece was inspired by one of the five Chinese elements: fire, water, metal, wood and earth. ‘Five’ premiered at the Australian Music Concert on the 18th September 2020, at the University of Queensland.
